✯ all you need to know ✯
My name is Greer. I was born and raised in San Francisco, and I use art as an alternative way to express myself when reading and writing did not come easily. Drawing inspiration from the expansive range of contemporary art that lines the streets of the Bay Area, I have been inspired to create small wearable treasures that can withstand the test of time. Jewelry can hold many meanings, but its most important trait is it helps the wearer express who they are.
I was first exposed to metal smithing at age 14 in a two week summer arts program in Idyllwild California. I have always been somewhat of a magpie, collecting small items some might consider to be trash. This nature drew me towards discarded, broken items, and, unlike 2 dimensional painting and drawing, jewelry allowed me to manipulate a 3 dimensional space. I have been able to utilize my museum of found objects; creating art that could be shown off in my everyday life.
Since then, I’ve has used jewelry making to explore memories and display my unease with the current social political crisis. No matter what emotions I’m trying to invoke within the viewer, wether it be personal, political, or controversial, I always put personality into my art work.
